Frequently Asked Questions for Woodworkers

Check back often as we will be adding more FAQs as we get them.

Q: I understand what small part first does or small part strategy is but how does EnRoute know what's a small part?
EnRoute determines what a small part is from a feature called Small Part Sizes. Open up a new EnRoute document and hit F10 on your keyboard to access preferences. You will see a tab called Initialization. Small size threshold is where you would tell EnRoute what is a small part and anything under this numeric setting is considered. For example, if you enter 100.00 square inches, you are saying that an 8x10 inch square (80.00 sq in.) is considered a small part.

Q: Should I select use depth or should I specify my own design depth all the time?
By selecting Use Depth, you do not have to worry about entering in the wrong depth of your part or layer. Selecting this will result in your tool path going to the depth that you set in the .dxf file while in your cabinet design application. By specifying a depth an unchecking this option, you have manual control over what depth you would like your part/layer to reach. Never specify both unless it is for a legitimate specific reason.

Q: Why am I getting the tool is not in the turret when I click process?
This means that one of the tools that are being used in a strategy that is mapped to a layer is NOT in the list of tools that you set under tool changer in the machine set-up. Open up a new EnRoute document and hit F6 on your keyboard to access Machine drivers. Under ToolChanger select "click to edit". Verify that the tools are in the correct location and that the tools used in the strategies specified are inserted as well.

Q: Can I output just certain parts instead of my entire cut list?
< ATP.>Yes. Instead of filtering through all your .dxf files and manually adding them, go ahead and import your list file into the ATP as normal. You will see all your parts listed underneath. To the left of the part name listed you will see a small box. Please a check box next to the part you would like to process. Only checked parts are processed through the ATP

Q:When I make a change in the ATP it does not hold for my next job why?
Mostly likely the reason for this is because you are not saving it in your ATP file. After making any changes in your ATP, if you would like that change to be applied for that job, do nothing. Otherwise hit the Save button under Load and your ATP file will be updated to reflect this change permanently.

Q: How can I tell if my ATP or which one is loaded? Should I just load it every time?
< the on look colspIf loaded. what's at glance simply good is this but loaded last remembers EnRoute loaded. have what tells This (C:\...etc). Setup Toolpath ’ÄúAutomatic see: dialog>If you look on the top of your ATP dialog box you will see: ’ÄúAutomatic Toolpath Setup (C:\...etc). This tells you what ATP file you have loaded. EnRoute remembers the last ATP file you loaded but this is good to simply glance at and see what's loaded.

Q: When I process my parts one particular layer does not have a tool path on it, why?
Probably because you have a hidden layer that does not have a strategy assigned to it. After you have added a list file and confirmed that your ATP file is loaded, go to your Define Layers tab. Is all your layers mapped to a strategy? If so, select the application button to the right of clear layers. Now scroll down to the bottom of the Define Layers list. You may see a hidden layer there which you will need to assign a strategy to. After doing so, remember to save your ATP file.

Q: I do not have a cabinet solution or any other software. Can I import my AutoCAD .dxf files?
No active application in the set-up tab of your ATP. This way you can manually add each .dxf file in the Select Files tab.

Q: Under plate size, I have .75 as my thickness. What if my cut list has more than one material thickness?
< the parts on this EnRoute cut after immediately viewed be can on. Details so together nested three-quarters one-quarter part. All each thickness depending sheet nest separate knows automatically worry, colspDon’Äôt list.>Don't worry, EnRoute ATP automatically knows to separate/nest each sheet depending on the thickness of each part. All your quarter parts will be nested together and all your three-quarter parts will be nested together and so on. Details of this can be viewed immediately after adding your cut list.
